About Us

Cholsey Primary School has been at the heart of the community in Cholsey Village for many years and provides a rich education and learning experience for children in Cholsey and many of the neighbouring villages.

As the village has continued to grow and develop, so too has the school. With a second expansion taking the school to two-form entry, we are looking forward to continuing to be an integral part of Cholsey village and welcoming more families to our caring community.

House Points System

All pupils and staff at Cholsey School are members of a house. The house names are the names of ancient fields around the village. Children are allocated a house when they join us in Foundation Stage  and remain in that house until they leave in Year 6. Siblings are all part of the same house. We have four school houses in the school and each one has an animal or mythical creature linked to it.

As part of a house, children can achieve individual house points on a daily basis, as well as whole class points. These are awarded in the form of Dojo Points and are recorded on each class Dojo page.

House points are awarded to children and classes for a variety of reasons, which include:

  • Demonstrating our school values (CARE)
  • Being a positive role model
  • Taking responsibility
  • Persevering
  • Being mindful of others
  • Showing creativity

Each house has two Year 6 House Captains, who apply and are interviewed as part of a recruitment process. House Captains’ role is to motivate their houses and lead by example. They also take on the responsibility for organising and promoting house events and competitions and liaise with staff to do so.

Every Friday in Celebration Assembly, house captains announce the total number of points for their house and the winning house has ribbons in their colour put on the house cup. The house with the highest total of points at the end of each long term, has a celebration event and the overall winning house of the year, has a House Party at the end of the Summer Term.
